The laser vision correction (LVC) market suffered its second straight year of significant procedure volume declines in 2009, with US procedure volume of about 850,000, down roughly 40% from 1.4 million in 2007. Duffey, MD, a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery specialist at Premier Medical Eye Group, presented results of the 2009 annual survey of members of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) that indicated a 15% procedure volume decline in 2009 versus 2008 among US members.
