Edwards' TAVR Platforms Challenged In Boston Scientific Patent Suits

More patent litigation is emerging in the transcatheter aortic valve replacement space with two recent lawsuits alleging that Edwards Lifesciences' Sapien 3 TAVR device and delivery systems violated a total of nine patents held by Boston Scientific.

Boston Scientific Corp. has filed two patent infringement cases against Edwards Lifesciences Corp., alleging Edwards’ Sapien 3 transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and its delivery systems violate several patents held by the Marlborough, Mass.-based device-maker. The cases echo claims made in a pending case filed in Germany last fall.
