'Acting' At CDRH: Two Top Offices Are Now Run By Interim Directors

An update on CDRH's management structure.

CDRH's Office of Device Evaluation and the Office of Compliance together oversee a wide swath of device company activities throughout the lifecycle of a product – from early development through commercial manufacturing and marketing efforts. Both offices are now run by interim rather than permanent directors.

With the departure this month of Steve Silverman as the Office of Compliance chief, Deputy Director Jan Welch will serve as interim head of the office. (See [A#01150119012].) And, in August, Christy Foreman left her position as director of the Office of Device Evaluation to move to FDA's Center for Tobacco Products. CDRH Chief Scientist William Maisel has been filling in as acting ODE director since that time
