Pressure On CMS To Add UDI To Claims Forms Continues

The West Health Institute has joined a group of stakeholders calling for incorporating Unique Device Identifier codes in reimbursement claims forms to improve postmarket surveillance. But hospital and physician groups continue to push against the notion, stating it would create unnecessary burdens.

The West Health Institute, a California-based health policy group, is pushing CMS to require providers to include Unique Device Identifiers (UDI) data in insurance claims which they say will help researchers better understand safety and efficacy of different treatments.
