People Briefs: Louis Jacques To Leave CMS; FDA, MHRA Appointments

Louis Jacques, who directs CMS’ coverage office, will leave the agency at the end of the month. FDA appoints acting deputy chief scientist. The U.K. Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency names clinical director of medical devices. More people briefs.

Louis Jacques, director of the coverage and analysis group within CMS’ Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, will be leaving the agency at the end of February, a CMS spokesman confirmed Feb. 12. Jacques has told colleagues internally at CMS that he will be heading to private sector. It is expected that Tamara Syrek Jensen, deputy director of the group, will at least temporarily fill the post.

Jacques joined CMS in 2003 and has been director of the coverage and analysis group since 2009. He has championed increased use of the Medicare coverage-with-evidence-development policy during his tenure,...
