Charles J. Dockendorff, executive VP and chief financial officer of diversified medical device firm Covidien PLC, plans to retire at the end of this year, the company announced Jan. 27. Dockendorff joined Covidien’s predecessor company, Kendall Healthcare Products Co., in 1989, rising from controller to CFO of Kendall parent firm Tyco Healthcare in 1995. Covidien will consider both internal and external candidates to replace the longtime executive. “We anticipate a seamless transition,” José E. Almeida, Covidien chairman, president and CEO, said Jan. 27.
