FDA would get $2.55 billion in congressionally appropriated funds for fiscal year 2014, an increase of $91 million above FY 2013 enacted levels under a bipartisan appropriations bill approved by Congress. The bill also includes $85 million to restore device, drug and other industry user fees collected in FY 2013 but withheld from FDA by last year’s sequestration. (See [A#01131118019].)
The legislation was passed by the House on a 359-67 vote on Jan. 15, and by the Senate, 72-26, on Jan. 16.
