Ankles Away: Stryker Raises Bet On Extremities With SBi Acquisition

Stryker is buying substantially all assets of Small Bone Innovations for up to $375 million, further increasing attention to the orthopedic extremities market, and, in particular, total ankle replacement.

Stryker Corp. will gain its first total ankle replacement system and diversify its holdings in the fast-growing orthopedic extremities market with its acquisition of Small Bone Innovations Inc. assets, announced June 30.

The deal, worth up to $375 million, will fold much of SBi’s portfolio, including the STAR total ankle system, into Stryker’s established Foot & Ankle unit
