Device manufacturers and others will have until Aug. 1, 2013 to begin collecting data on physician payments and other transfers of value to comply with new federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act requirements, according to a final rule issued by CMS Feb. 1. Companies will be required to report the data they collect from August to December 2013 to CMS by March 31, 2014, and CMS will release the data on a public website by Sept. 30, 2014. The agency is developing an electronic system to facilitate the reporting process.
