The Medicare agency is taking comments through Feb. 23 on coverage indications for single-chamber and dual-chamber cardiac pacemakers. CMS opened the national coverage analysis on Jan. 24 in response to a Dec. 18 letter from the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology that called on CMS to update the clinical indications for dual-chamber pacemakers, specifically group II, dual-chamber cardiac pacemakers. CMS plans to issue a proposed decision memo by July 24, 2013, and a final decision by Oct. 22, 2013.
