New prosthetic leg can receive signals from the patient’s nervous system to improve control. Study shows repeated bone-mineral density tests do not improve the prediction of osteoporosis-related injury.

Researchers at the Center for Bionic Medicine at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago demonstrated that electromyographic (EMG) signals from natively innervated and surgically reinnervated residual thigh muscles can improve control of a robotic lower-leg prosthesis.
