Correction Means Lower Medicare Outpatient Rates Than Expected For Stereotactic Radiosurgery

A correction notice issued by CMS to fix technical errors in the 2014 draft hospital outpatient prospective payment system cut its payment proposal for stereotactic radiosurgery by about $3,000 compared to a proposed rule issued in July.

A fix to some technical errors has resulted in an approximately $3,000 reduction in the outpatient reimbursement rates that CMS is proposing for stereotactic radiosurgery in 2014. But even with the adjustment, stereotactic radiosurgery outpatient rates will still see an increase compared with current 2013 payments.

The agency issued a correction notice on Sept. 4 to fix errors it had identified in its 2014 hospital outpatient prospective payment system
