The Department of Justice May 13 announced the settlement of a case with CR Bard Inc. for submitting false claims under Medicare for violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute, in which DOJ alleged that Bard provided illegal grants, conference fees and free medical equipment to customers and providers who used their brachytherapy seeds to perform prostate cancer treatment.
CR Bard must pay the government $48.26 million to settle anti-kickback charges under the False Claims Act, the Department of Justice said May 13.
