Medical devices will be the focus of a new comparative effectiveness research collaboration between insurer UnitedHealthcare and several large U.S. hospital chains, announced April 9. The goal of the joint venture, called SharedClarity, is to identify the best-performing devices in a range of categories and use the information to drive the health systems’ purchasing decisions.
