HHS OIG Targets Medicare DME Costs In 2013 Work Plan

The Office of Inspector General’s fiscal 2013 work plan outlines new projects to monitor costly overpayments for Medicare durable medical equipment and realize additional cost savings in the Medicaid program.

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General plans to keep a close eye on improper payments for durable medical equipment and supplies in the coming year, as well as seek opportunities for DME cost savings, OIG officials said last week.
