Delegates to the American Medical Association’s policymaking body are not happy with the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.
At their annual meeting in Chicago June 16-20, they voted overwhelmingly (322 to 93) to express “concern” over the task force’s recommendations on screening mammography and prostate-specific antigen screening. Both recommendations attracted a firestorm of criticism when they were issued – the recommendation against routine mammography screening in women aged 40-49 in 2009 and the recommendation against PSA screening for men of all ages in May
