Less than one-quarter of the post-market studies ordered last year by FDA for metal-on-metal hip implants have reached the stage where the agency and manufacturer have agreed on a study plan, according to an article in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The delay should be addressed at an advisory panel meeting this week, the authors from the Pew Health Group and Cornell University argued in the June 20 NEJM perspective piece.
