Sanofi’s iBGStar blood glucose monitor. ProUroCare’s prostate imaging system. Edwards Lifesciences’ ThruPort IntraClude intra-aortic occlusion device. More new products.

Sanofi debuts May 2 its iBGStar 510(k)-cleared blood glucose monitoring system, making it the first such meter available that directly connects with an Apple iPhone or iPodtouch device, according to the company. The connection relies on the iBGStar Diabetes Manager App, which can be downloaded for free at an Apple App store, allowing users to analyze their blood glucose readings and send data via email to health care providers. The meter and test strips are available at Walgreens stores and online at Walgreens.com and Apple.com. The device will also be available for purchase in Apple retail stores on May 15.
