External infusion pumps and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) devices are among new product categories that will be included in a Medicare competitive bidding process this fall in the nine metropolitan areas that competed in the original “round-one” bidding in 2009. CMS announced plans April 17 for a “recompete” in the nine round-one regions as part of the Medicare durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies competitive bidding program.
