Medical device maker Boston Scientific has signed an agreement with multinational communications firm Vodafone Global Enterprise to develop mobile cardiac and vital sign monitoring solutions powered by Vodafone’s machine-to-machine, or M2M, technology. The remote monitoring systems will allow cardiac patients to send health-related data from their homes to their physicians, reducing pressures on hospital inpatient services, the firms said in a March 14 press release announcing the partnership.
