FDA Opens Device Criminal Investigations Under Pilot Program In 2011

Despite the name, FDA’s “Pharmaceutical Fraud Pilot Program” includes devices in its mission. Of the 16 criminal investigations opened under the program last year, two are explicitly focused on device companies.

An ongoing FDA “pharmaceutical fraud” pilot program includes medical devices among its targets, and at least two of the 16 criminal investigations opened in 2011 under the program are device focused, according to a government report.
