Automated blood processing systems manufacturer appoints Matthew Plavan to be CEO and a member of the board, while retaining his chief financial officer post, firm says Jan. 30. Plavan has served as CFO since 2005 and was chief operating officer from 2008-2010. His promotion is part of a restructuring aimed at saving ThermoGenesis about $2 million annually, the firm states. Eight positions were also eliminated. Plavan replaces J. Melville Engle, who has retired as chairman and CEO. Engle joined ThermoGenesis as CEO in 2009, and was named chairman in 2010.
